ON THE ROAD AGAIN.

Monday, September 26 – After several weeks of delay, we pulled out of our summer home bright and early this morning heading south. Even Paul admits that delaying our departure was a good idea. His knee took a little more time to get to a comfortable state then he anticipated. He would have been pretty miserable trying to keep up with Marsha’s touring plans in Gettysburg and several east coast cities. We'll have to save those for another time!

Of course, by mid-day it was raining pretty hard so Paul's work of washing and waxing the truck and RV was for naught. Darn rain! We intended to take the bypass around Cincinnati but got confused in the heavy rain and traffic and missed the turn-off. So we ended up driving straight through the city with its many bridges, a tunnel, construction, and the heavy rain. It actually wasn't too bad and we soon found our turn-off in Kentucky.

We had about 15 miles of travel on back roads from I-71 to the Lake Shelby CG, but since we are heading south the return trip to I-65 in the morning is only about 5 miles. This is a small, very nice campground with ten sites off a small parking lot. The sites have a small concrete pad which was sufficient size for our 36' fifth wheel, water and 30 amp electric. They back up to the Shelbyville Lake which appears to be a pretty nice fishing lake. The cost is a very reasonable at $15 per night.

So, our adjusted travel schedule looks something like this. We left Canton, OH, on Monday, September 26, and head south to the Gulf Area. We'll spend a little time in the Gulf Shores, AL, Biloxi, MS, and Bay St. Louis, MS, areas relaxing on the beach and enjoying some seafood.

We will then make a return visit to Betty's RV in Abbeville, LA, to enjoy the Cajun atmosphere, music, food, and drinks so popular in Betty's area.

We will by-pass Houston temporarily, and head to San Antonio and Austin. There are several things we skipped doing during past visits, and others we would like to re-visit.

We should be in Houston, TX, by the end of October. We usually hang around that area through the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to spend some time with our daughter, Carrie. She just moved into a new loft in downtown that we are anxious to see!

After ringing in the New Year, we will head to Arizona for the remainder of the winter. We really enjoy our time in the Southwestern part of the country. There's all kinds of outdoor activities we enjoy doing, plenty to see and do and many friends to spend some time with.

Again we plan on attending Cleveland Indians Spring Training in March before slowly heading back to Ohio for the summer.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!
